Leo Mountjoy Memorial Fund
Memorial to E.L.”Leo” Mountjoy
To honor the memory of Leo Mountjoy who passed away on January 5, 2026, the Dallas Tennis Association is setting up a Memorial Scholarship Fund to continue the work that Leo started to support young athletes. The fund would support them in their efforts to play, compete, and travel as they promote the benefits of tennis in Texas.
Leo unselfishly served as a volunteer on numerous committees within the Dallas Tennis Association, USTA Texas and USTA National structures from 1984. This included the Dallas Junior Excellence Board, one of the original models for the USTA Player Development Program. His service also included President of the Dallas Tennis Association, Executive Committee of the Texas Tennis Association (which became USTA Texas), Chairman Junior Tennis Council, USTA Communications Committee, Chair of Nominating Committee, Treasurer, Budget & Finance Committee and eventually President of the Texas Tennis Association in 1995-1996 followed by USTA National delegate. He also chaired and served on various Dallas tournament committees. His dedication to serving created a list that is both long and strong and covers some thirty years. He was never afraid to bring up a topic to discuss if he felt discussing would solve or enhance some issue – even if he were the only one in the room with an arm raised. Inevitably, many issues raised were better off from healthy discussion brought up by Leo.
To continue his vision, donations to this fund will help provide under-served youth with access to tennis programs, equipment, tournaments and life skills that will serve them and others for a lifetime.
